A few years back, I didn’t like dogs because I was afraid they would bite (based on past experience). Now, how times have changed - I have become a certified crazy small dog mommy. Life with dogs is very different (definitely much better!) and it changes you (or at least it changed me.) How exactly? - Here are some of my favorite quotes to show you how:
10 quotes that only dog parents would truly understand and appreciate
1. It really is the dog’s home, we just pay the mortgage.
I rearranged our furniture so it is easy for our small dogs to climb into the sofa. I made small doggy steps out of cardboard boxes leading to the bed for the same reason. We only take half the bed and couch space because the other half belongs to 2 itsy bitsy chihuahuas.
2. If I can’t bring my dog, I’m not going.
We don’t like leaving them alone at home, especially on week ends. Our friends now include the little ones in the invites. We do tend to accept more easily the invitations that include them and tend to stay at home otherwise.
3. Love is wet noses, sloppy kisses and wagging tails.
Love used to mean chocolate and spa time, hugs and kisses and … ;) but now love is a four legged word and yes furry hugs and kisses too.
4. Everyone thinks they have the best dog… And none of them are wrong.
Each dog has its own unique personality. Every dog is sweet, smart, cute, playful, and funny in its own right. But as pet parents, we tend to be biased towards our little ones. I find Yana prettier than all other little girls. I find Butch the sweetest among other little boys. I am sure other pet parents find their little ones more endearing than ours and they are entitled to their opinion as we are to ours :-)
5. The first dog is the dog who gives you so much, that the first dog is often the reason for the second dog.
One of the reasons for getting Butch was so that Yana isn’t left alone at home for too long during week days. Now it’s because of our small dog life with the two of them that I ask if maybe a 3rd one too?
6. The journey of life is sweeter when traveled with a dog.
All I know is that an afternoon lazing around at home is more fun, more entertaining and happier with our little doggies around. All I know is that they make memories and experiences more colorful. And yes, we take them on holidays too because we miss them if they are not around.
7. There’s an unspoken rule that when your pet is sleeping on you, you don’t move.
If you need to do or get something, somebody else will have to do it for you
8. Dog hair, I don’t care.
I used to be of the opinion that I don’t like dogs inside the house, because of the dog smell, the dog hair everywhere and any other dog mess. Now our small dogs sleep on the bed and we just have an endless supply of lint remover.
9. Best part of the day is coming home to a wagging tail.
We actually get a twirly dance from Yana, a wiggle your butt demo from Butch complete with yappy barks and non stop jumping from both – every time.
10. If you’re lucky… a dog will come into your life, steal you heart and change everything.
That’s exactly what happened to me!
